Francisco Lozano Winterhalder

Founder and coordinator of the CEB-ICH

 

 

Organizer and lecturer in innumerable conferences, courses, seminars about science, environment and biotechnology, multiculturality and values

 

Founder and director of the CEB-ICH which aim is to educate and to inform about science as an explanation of the nature and of the history and interpretation of the whole universe; the big challenges of life and its environment; and the analysis of the implications and cultural and multicultural solutions, especially what refers to universal values.

Several courses in all learning areas (improving in all sciences, social sciences, humanities and art) including studies of music in the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceo (Barcelona) .

In 1982 he visited the United States and contacted the distinguished Spanish biochemist Dr. Joan Oró, NASA's main researcher and Prof. of the Houston University. After that he joined the Institute of Fundamental Biology of the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona as a researcher.

He became a member of the Societat Catalana de Biologia and of the Agrupación Astronómica de Sabadell and he collaborate with the Spanish Astrobiological Centre, member of the Astrobiological Program (NASA).

Currently Francisco Lozano Winterhalder became a Professor of Ecology and Environment at the Ramon Llull University (Barcelona) and coordinator of the Ecological Ethics research group in the same University.

He has given classes in the environmental engineering master and he has directed the post grade course for specialists in environmental education.

He also collaborate in different Spanish universities (UB, UdG,UdL,UPC...) as well as in some internationals ones  (MIT, Boston, USA; Latinamerica and Europe). He became a member and ex-secretary of the Unesco Club in Barcelona. I participated as a worldwide observer in the Rio+5 (New York, 97) revision of agreements.

He has also participated in the creation of a macro project within the 2004 Forum of Cultures organised by Unesco and to be held in Barcelona.

He became a member of the African Studies Centre in Barcelona and he was in contact with the Asia Society in New York.

Examples of cycles aimed to the general public: “Universe, man and life”, “Space journey”, “The future of life”, “The colors of our world” (about multiculturality and values).

Courses and seminars: “Economy and ecology”, “Climatic Change”, “Biodiversity”, “Environment and biotechnology”, “Reflections about sustainability”, “Universe and life”.

He wrote some articles and participated in tv and radio programs. Currently, he presents a radio program called “Meeting with science” in the well Spanish radio “Onda Cero, Onda Rambla".
